LOGOGRAPHIC SYSTEM

Design a graphic logo system for abstract concepts such as “belonging”, “memory” or even “wisdom” for the Apache tribe.

The Apache were a group of indigenous peoples of North America, primarily concentrated in the southwestern regions of the United States and northern Mexico. They were known for their skill in warfare, rich culture, and nomadic lifestyle. Apache culture was rich in oral traditions, music, dance, and crafts. They held deep spiritual beliefs, often centered around nature and spirits, and practiced religious rituals to honor these beliefs.

My research is based on the spirituality of this tribe as well as the medicine wheel drawn on the ground with stones and its values are defined through its cardinal points which each have their characteristics in specific areas.

Also, the teepee represented much more than a simple shelter for the Apaches. It was considered a symbol of connection with nature and respect for the earth. The construction of the teepee is based on wooden sticks each had a meaning of where they were placed and assembled diagonally to form a circle.

The fusion of these two elements gave the grid. By filling in the grid we can see that the shapes are like pixels, like the patterns that the Apaches made in beads on clothes, bags, pots, etc.

Under concepts and finals concepts

The goal is to create a logo graphic system based on concepts of Belonging / Awareness / Creativity / Memory / Human Purpose / Wisdom / Identity / Culture / Emotion / Social interaction

To create these 10 concepts, I created 2 under concepts to mix them and give the final concept. For instance, under concepts of Inclusion + Bonding = Belonging
